Data Protection Policy

Welcome to argiro.gr (hereinafter referred to as the “Website”). This policy is an integral part of the Website’s Terms of Use.

1. General Information – Data Controller

ΑLTER EGO MEDIA, in its capacity as Data Controller (hereinafter referred to as “ALTER EGO MEDIA” or “we”), hereby informs you, in accordance with Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2106/679, hereinafter “GDPR”), about the type of personal data collected, the sources of collection, the purposes  and legal bases for processing, any recipients of such data, the time of their retention, as well as your rights as data subjects, in the context of your use and registration on the Website.

Should you wish to register with ALTER EGO MEDIA, registration is carried out via redirection to the main ALTER EGO MEDIA website: alteregomedia.org. The privacy policy posted on the ALTER EGO MEDIA main website: alteregomedia.org also applies to the processing of your personal data during registration.

2. Definitions

• “Visitor”: This term refers to any user who visits and uses the Website.
• “Registered User”: This term refers to any user who registers with ALTER EGO MEDIA by creating a User account via redirection to the ALTER EGO MEDIA main website: org.
• “Personal Data”: any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person whose identity can be verified directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as, indicatively and not limited to, a name, telephone number, email address, identity card number, tax identification number (TIN).
• “Data Subject”: the identified or identifiable natural person to whom the personal data refer.
• “Processing”: any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
• “Controller”: the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
• “Processor”: a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which processes Personal Data on behalf of the Controller;
• “Consent”: any indication of the data subject’s will, freely given, specific, express, and informed , by which the Data Subject signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action.

3. How we collect your personal data – Type of personal data – Purposes of processing – Legal bases for processing

3.1. Collecting data directly from the data subject

We collect personal data directly from you when you visit, use the Website, register by creating a User account with ALTER EGO MEDIA through redirection to the main website of ALTER EGO MEDIA: alteregomedia.org, contact us for any reason via email, telephone, or any other means, as well as when you subscribe to our newsletter.

Please see below for detailed information on the personal data collected and processed for both simple Visitors to the Website and registered Users of ALTER EGO MEDIA.

3.2. Collection of data by automated means through the use of the Website

Some data is collected either with the help of cookies (for more information on the use of cookies, please read our relevant policy) or automatically when you visit the Website.

When you visit the Website, we may collect data from you through your browsing and use of our services. Specifically, due to the way the internet works, as soon as you visit the Website, our server records your IP address, which constitutes personal data, even if we cannot identify you ourselves based on this information, as well as some other information, such as the date and time of your visit.

The legal basis for collecting and storing data in special files (log files) is our legitimate interest (6(1)(f) GDPR) in order to ensure the security of networks, information, and services from accidental events or unlawful or malicious actions that jeopardise the availability, authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality of stored or transmitted data (e.g., denial-of-service attack monitoring), as well as to effectively address any technical issues. This processing is in accordance with the relevant legal framework, as it does not pose serious risks to your rights and freedoms, and is permitted under the GDPR and national legislation, as it is based on our legitimate interest.

We use your email address to send you updates about the content of the Website, such as recipes and other related topics that we think may be of interest to you.

Legal basis for processing

We process the data you provide us with based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and Article 11(1) of Law 3471/2006).

Your consent and your data (email address) will be retained for as long as your consent is valid and for five (5) years thereafter, subject to compliance with legal obligations or for the establishment, exercise or support legal claims of ALTER EGO MEDIA.

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by selecting “Unsubscribe” in any relevant communication you receive and request the deletion of your data.

In the event of withdrawal of consent, ALTER EGO MEDIA will cease the relevant processing operations, however, the withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing prior to the withdrawal.

B) Communication with ALTER EGO MEDIA:

Your full name, email address, and any other information that may be included in your request.

Important note: In your message, you should only include the information necessary for the issue you are interested in and avoid referring to your own or third parties’ personal data.

Purpose of processing

We process this data in order to provide you with our services, so that we can handle your request and communicate with you by responding to your message.

Your data is processed in the context of serving the legitimate interests of ALTER EGO MEDIA (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), in this case to serve your requests, maintain  and improve ALTER EGO MEDIA’s communication with Visitors.

3.4. Personal data of registered Users that is collected and processed

Type of personal data:

When you register and create a User account with ALTER EGO MEDIA, which is done by redirecting you to the ALTER EGO MEDIA website: alteregomedia.org, we collect the following data:

• E-mail address
• Name
• Surname
• Gender
• Date pf Birth

Purposes of processing

We process your account data:

• to provide and promote products and services to Users,
• to enable you to take advantage of the opportunities offered to you as a registered User of ALTER EGO MEDIA and enjoy a personalized experience when using our products and services, including the development and provision of marketing and advertising services related to your interests, such as sending newsletters, targeted advertisements,
• to serve you and respond to your requests,
• to analyze traffic and content viewed through your User account on ALTER EGO MEDIA-owned websites,
• to improve our products and services so that they better meet your needs,
• to be able to constantly offer you new and interesting content,
• to comply with our legal obligations, to protect the rights of ALTER EGO MEDIA as well as the rights of third parties.

Legal bases for processing

• The processing of the User’s personal data is necessary for the performance of the contract (6(1)(b) GDPR) between the User and ALTER EGO MEDIA, i.e. registration with ALTER EGO MEDIA and the provision of a personalized content experience to registered Users of ALTER EGO MEDIA.
• Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests (6(1)(f) GDPR) pursued by ALTER EGO MEDIA, such as, indicatively, for the purposes of promoting its products and services and analyzing the content displayed on websites owned by ALTER EGO MEDIA.

ALTER EGO MEDIA also reserves the right to regularly update registered Users via email or any other appropriate means of communication using their contact details, which have been obtained legally, within the framework of its transactional relationship with Users (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and Article 11(3) of Law 3471/2006), provided that the User does not object to such communication. This communication concerns the sending of newsletters from the Website, as well as information about similar products or services of ALTER EGO MEDIA or for similar purposes, such as sending updates on ALTER EGO MEDIA Group news, offers, and other related issues that we believe are of interest to the User. The User has the right to object to the processing of their data for the purpose of sending the Newsletter by selecting “Unsubscribe” in any relevant communication they receive.

• Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation (6(1)(c) GDPR) to which ALTER EGO MEDIA is subject, such as when it is required to transmit data to competent authorities.

4. Recipients of personal data

Firstly, access to your data is restricted to authorized ALTER EGO MEDIA personnel, who process your data under strict confidentiality conditions, solely within the scope of the above legal purposes.

To the extent that this is necessary for the fulfillment of our contractual obligations, to better serve you, and to satisfy your requests, ALTER EGO MEDIA may transfer some of your necessary data to partner companies, such as companies providing legal, consulting, and auditing services, IT companies, companies that provide internet services, email delivery or other services necessary for the operation of the Website, and the performance of ALTER EGO MEDIA’s services, such as marketing and advertising activities. Statistical information (which does not identify data subjects) may also be transferred to third parties who provide us with traffic analysis services.

Upon lawful request, we may transfer data to public authorities, such as, indicatively, judicial, independent, police authorities, if this is absolutely necessary to defend the legal rights or fulfill the obligations of ALTER EGO MEDIA.

5. International transfers

The personal data we collect about you is stored on secure servers within the European Economic Area (EEA). If, in the context of the processing described in this Policy, we need to obtain services from providers located outside the EEA or in a jurisdiction that does not have adequacy under the GDPR, such data transfers will only take place if appropriate measures (safeguards) have been taken in accordance with Articles 44 et seq. of the GDPR.

6. Retention period

We retain your personal data for as long as is strictly necessary for the purposes for which we have collected it, for compliance with any legal obligations or internal procedures, and for as long as necessary to defend our legal rights and interests, taking into account the applicable statute of limitations.

In particular, subject to the above paragraph:

• The personal data of a registered User will be retained by ALTER EGO MEDIA for as long as the User’s account is active and for two [2] years after the account is deleted.
• With regard to the newsletter service, the User’s personal data is retained according to their preferences for receiving such updates and for five (5) years thereafter.
• If you contact ALTER EGO MEDIA, your personal data will be retained for as long as necessary to serve you and for a period of two [2] years after the completion of the process.

7. Technical and organizational security measures

ALTER EGO MEDIA processes your personal data in a manner that ensures its protection. Specifically, your personal data is processed exclusively by personnel appointed for this purpose or by partners who are bound to ALTER EGO MEDIA by the same obligations to protect your personal data. ALTER EGO MEDIA takes all appropriate organizational and technical measures to ensure data security and protect it from accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access, and any other form of unlawful processing. Among other things, it adopts internal security policies, trains its staff, and utilizes a range of technologies that ensure the security of your data (e.g., SSL certificate, encryption, certified hosting providers).

8. Data subject rights

ALTER EGO MEDIA ensures the unimpeded exercise of your below rights as data subjects under the GDPR (Articles 12-22). These rights are subject to certain exceptions, reservations, or restrictions set out in the legislative framework.

The right to information/notification

You have the right to request and receive clear, transparent, and easily understandable information about how we process your personal data.

The right of access

You have the right to access your personal data, receiving confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed and relevant information about the processing. You can request a copy of your personal data processed by ALTER EGO MEDIA. The first copy you request will be provided free of charge, while a reasonable fee may be charged to cover ALTER EGO MEDIA’s administrative costs for additional copies of the same information or in the event of manifestly unfounded or excessive/repeated requests.

The right to rectification

You have the right and the obligation to request the rectification of your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

The right to erasure

You have the right to request the erasure of your personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or there is no legal reason for its continued processing.

The right to restriction of processing

In certain cases, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. In cases where processing has been restricted, your personal data remains stored without further processing.

The right to data portability

You have the right to request to receive the personal data concerning you that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, as well as to request that we transmit that data to another controller. The right to data portability applies when the processing is based on the legal basis of consent or the performance of a contract and when the processing is carried out by automated means.

Right to object

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data for the purposes of our legitimate interests, such as objecting to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.

Withdrawal of consent

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Submit a complaint to the competent Authority

If you believe that the processing of your data is not lawful, you may contact the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) (tel: +30-210 6475600, website: http://www.dpa.gr), by submitting a complaint to the HDPA electronically by completing the relevant electronic form at https://www.dpa.gr/el/polites/katagelia_stin_arxi (1-3 Kifissias Avenue, 11523, Athens, tel. 210 6475600).

Please submit your requests responsibly. ALTER EGO MEDIA will respond as soon as possible and in any case within one month of receiving the request. If the examination of your request is going to take more time, you will be informed accordingly. To exercise your rights, you can contact the Data Protection Officer (DPO) at dpo@alteregomedia.org.

Please note that ALTER EGO MEDIA may refuse, in whole or in part, to comply with your request to restrict the processing or erasure of your data if the processing or retention of your personal data is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defend its legal rights or fulfill its legal obligations.
