Instructions

  1. Grind the bread in a blender to crumbs and place in a bowl.
  2. Add the apples, butter, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, walnuts, lemon zest, and brandy.
  3. Mix well with a spoon.
  4. Lay the puff pastry sheet on the counter and spread half of the filling lengthwise.
  5. Brush the edges with butter and fold them inward, sealing to form a long envelope.
  6. Repeat the same process with the second strudel.
  7. Place the rolls on a buttered baking pan with the seam facing down.
  8. Score the surface of each roll with 3 diagonal cuts using a sharp knife.
  9. Brush the surface with a little melted butter.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) with the fan on, on the middle rack, for about 40 minutes, until golden and puffed.
  11. Let them cool slightly.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
  13. Cut into pieces and serve.
